Volunteer Internship Program
The goal of the Center’s Volunteer Internship Program is to provide pre-professional, in-service experiential learning opportunities for students interested in environmental issues and ethics, avian medicine and rehabilitation, and/or avian research.
- Offered to undergraduate and graduate students
- Credit/Non-credit. The Center does not itself award credit for internships; however, we are pleased to work with academic institutions in meeting student needs.
- Areas: Medical/Education/Research/Specific Course of Study
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet all of the following qualifications at the time of application:
- Enrolled at least part-time in an accredited high school, college or university
- Minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
- Candidate must be citizen of the United States
- Candidate must be at least 16 years of age
- Candidate must have strong communication, analytical and writing skills
- Pre-service interview with Center’s supervisory staff
- Candidate must exhibit a positive attitude and strong work ethic
How to Apply
Candidates interested in applying to the Center’s Volunteer Internship Program must submit a complete application package. The application package must include the following:
- Internship Application and cover letter describing interest;
- Resume outlining educational background, work experience, etc.;
- Official academic transcript;
- Two letters of academic recommendation with contact information;
- If pursuing academic credit, a letter of faculty sponsorship from your college or university with sponsor’s contact information. This letter must come from a school official and must indicate their willingness to serve as your sponsor;
- Waiver of Liability form

Compensation
This is a Volunteer Internship Program. All expenses, transportation, housing/lodging, meals and incidentals are the sole responsibility of the student intern.
